Mycophenolate Mofetil Tablets Information
Patients may be prescribed for several drugs following your kidney & liver transplant for the rest of your life. Each medicine is individually prescribed for you, and it is very necessary that you consume your medicines as you are taught. Following are some Kidney Transplant Medications as well as liver Transplant Medications.
Cyclosporine (Neoral, Gengraf): Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressant drug that helps prevent rejection.
Dose: Cyclosporine capsule comes as the strength of 25 mg and 100 mg; liquid comes as 100 mg/ml. Avoid combining the types of cyclosporine you take.

Dose: Tablet comes as 0.5 mg, 1 mg, and 5 mg strengths; liquid as the strength of 0.5 mg/ml. The liquid needs to be specially prepared by your healthcare provider. The dose can be adjusted by your laboratory values.

Mycophenolate Mofetil (Cellcept): As an immunosuppressant, mycophenolate mofetil used for preventing the rejection. Myfortic is the enteric coated form of the Mycophenolate that can have less stomach and bowel side effects.
Mycophenolate Mofetil is recommended in order to prevent organ transplant rejection in adults and kidney transplant rejection in the children aged over 24 months; whereas mycophenolate sodium (another form of drug) is prescribed in order to prevent kidney transplant rejection in adults.
Dose: Mycophenolate comes as the strength of 250 mg and 500 mg tablets. Myfortic comes as the strength of 180 mg and 360 mg tablets. Liquid comes in 200 mg/ml strength. Do not crush or chew Myfortic and Mycophenolate mofetil 500 mg medication.
How long does mycophenolate mofetil take to work?
The cellcept 500 mg does not act immediately, it may take up to 8 to 12 weeks before you have any advantage. It is necessary to continue treatment during this time.
Mofetil 500 mg may not cure the condition and you may need to consume it for several years in order to keep your relapses under control.

Dose: Tablet comes in 1 mg & 2 mg strength. It is once daily dosing schedule. Liquid also comes as 1 mg/mL, should be mixed with the orange juice or water.

Prednisone: This is an immunosuppressant medication that is used to prevent or treat rejection.
Dose for Adults: Use only 5 mg tablets & 10 mg tablets unless foremost interacting with your transplant healthcare provider

Dose for Children: Prednisone solution comes in the following concentrations: 1 mg/ml; 5mg/ml; & 15 mg/5 ml.
